 Our DT vision

At St Botolph’s CE Academy, our teaching of design technology aims to enhance our full curriculum in the development of the unique child and fully supports our Christian vision and ethos, “In God’s hands we love, learn and grow.”

At St Botolph’s, our creative DT teaching will provide children with a variety of practical activities, where pupils are taught the knowledge, understanding and skills needed to engage in an interactive process of designing and making. We plan the activities in DT so that they build upon prior learning of the children. We give children, of all abilities, the opportunity to apply their skills, knowledge and understanding and we also build planned progression into the scheme of work, so that the children are increasingly challenged as they move through the academy.

Through well- planned interesting themes for DT, children are taught to how to design, make, and evaluate through a cross-curricular approach and making purposeful links to other subjects.
