Holidays in Term Time
Holidays in term time statement
As you know, there is no right time to take a holiday during a school term as your child misses out on valuable teacher and learning time. However, we do understand that in extreme cases, this is sometimes unavoidable.
Parents and carers have a legal duty to ensure that their children of compulsory school age receive a suitable full-time education. It is also vital that you work with us to encourage your child's regular and punctual attendance at school.
Attendance is an important factor in improving outcomes for pupils, but unfortunately due to term time holidays, we are not doing as well as we could with attendance at St Botolphs. As explained in newsletters earlier this year, holidays taken in term time will be classed as unauthorised and this absence will now be referred to the Education Welfare Service for consideration of penalty notice. Parents/carers will be informed, regarding the penalty fine procedure, by Wakefield Education Welfare services.
